Flautes

"Flahutes," known in the cycling world as the toughest riders in the fiercest races. To put it another way, if your cycling spirit dampens at the sight of rain, you sure as shit ain't a Flahute. Rik Van Looy was one but Jacques Anquetil never came close. Roger De Vlaeminck classifies as one of the greats, while Bernard Hinault knew better than to try. Eddy Merckx managed to become one and still win five Tour de France titles. Guys like Axel Merckx, George Hincapie and Tom Steels say they dream of being one. I share their dream.

About Me

Some people train so they can race; I raced so I could train, so the all-important workout didn't get shoved to the back burner so easily. Nothing inspires like knowing you're going to get your butt kicked in the next race if you don't train. The fact that I get my butt kicked anyway is completely beside the point.
